Cats and Catnip!
When cats sense the bruised leaves or stems of catnip, they will rub in it, roll over it, paw at it, chew it, lick it, leap about and purr, often salivating copiously. Some cats will also growl and meow. This reaction only lasts for a few minutes before the cat loses interest. It takes up to two hours for the cat to "reset" and then it can come back to the catnip and have the same response as before.

Absolutely! I agree that giving animals drugs is a bad thing to do, but I know cats who will actively seek out the person with marijuana and "passively" smoke, I assume it's to get high. And an old cat of mine would eat marijuana leaves (but not the buds, obviously just needed a milder hit.) And catnip of course, or catamine as I call it. But alcohol abuse is also rife in creatures too. Apart from some dogs or horses or whatever liking beer (which requires human intervention, so not entirely natural) rotting fruit ferments into alcohol, wasps indeed, also certain monkeys love pissing it up on fermenting cherries. Also, I've heard of animals all going to some place somewhere (sorry can't be more specific!) where at a certain time of year there's a lot of natural alcohol from some rotting sugar filled vegetation or something, and loads of them party, many different species including predators and their prey! Can't substantiate that though, details escape me... I'm sure there's more examples as well, thought I'd remember more, but look forward to seeing more answers! Oh yeah, rabbits! The scourge of anyone who tries growing weed outdoors. They just bite them off at the bottom and drag the whole plant back to their burrows. They love it! I assume they get affected...

Hello Andy,
Well the Cat which adopted me gets high on cat nip. Its most odd. She also likes My sons hair when he's been swimming and attacks your hand if you've used Milton to clean with. I'm sure these things all send her a bit high. She doesn't smoke cannabis though as far as I know. She may very well do now i think about it, shes always out on the tiles.
Joking aside though, giving animals drugs would be cruel and is unacceptable as they have no free choice in the matter. Just in case anyone thinks it's funny to do so.

Cows are the ones that seek the shrooms, you shroomer. And humans are the ultimate party animals. There was that dog from "dude where's my car?" that liked getting high and there is an elephant that like to eat paper with lsd soaked on it.

Lots of African animals get drunk on fermenting fruit during certain times of the year. A giraffe trying to walk while being pissed out of his brains is quite a spectacle.

You are already high no wonder you are asking such a question. How, for instance, would an animal have knowledge of anything intoxicating, unless of course you ply them with some?

It has been known for cows to eat to many apples and for them to ferment inside them or such, and the poor old things start staggering all over the place.

When I was much much much younger, we used to put our cat in a paper bag and exhale marijuana smoke. I feel bad about it now, but the cat was no worse for wear. She lived to be 13.
