Wow!....this is a beautiful question...reaches into the soul.... well I have to say that when it comes to doing laundry, i would rather pay someone to do it for me....however when it comes to work, i am a perfectionist. In my writing, it is often that I take poetic license....which does not mean i am not a perfectionist. Communicating my point what ever that may be is always of paramount importance to me. I would rather not proof read my own things, however as an editor, i am a stickler for perfectionism. This probably shows here. I am not lazy, simply accepting reward in the fact that i have point after point to make....and then want to get on with a story.....in editing anothers work however, even if dictated to me for a spoken testimonial, i am EXACT in what i feel the prime points should be. the rewards for both are that I am able to utilize my skills and that when done I can breathe that ultimate sigh of relief...no amount of monies or accolades could be put on that. it is always an inside job.
Thanks. Another venture into the soul.....

It depends on what the tough route entails and the poss rewards. If it really matters, I'll go the tough way; if it's negotiable, I save my resources and go easier.
