I played pee wee, Jr high, High School, and college football and never wore a cup and never had any problems getting hit in the groin. I played offense and defense up through high school as a OG and a LB. In college I played OG. In all of those years and seeing all of those different athletes I played with the only ones that I ever saw wear a cup were the RBs for one simple reason. In running the ball, fighting for yards, often you are in postions where you can't always protect yourself from the shots you are receiving. The RBs were the only ones that I ever saw wearing a cup and not even all of them did.

I certainly would. When I was growing up, I played peewee football, and cups were not required(This was about 20-25 years ago). In one of our games a kid fell on his back and another kid tripped and accidentally stepped on his crotch while wearing cleats. Lets just say that any plans that poor kid had to have children of his own ended right there. After that game, they wouldn't let anyone else play unlesss they were wearing a cup. It really was unfortunate that it took something like that to get them to require cups.

Well that depends, do you like pain, and do you want to have children ? Why wouldn't you wear a cup ? Do you know what the impact is of a helmet hitting you where the sun don't shine ? OUCH !!!!

The right answer is yes. If you're a RB, WR, TE, QB I'd wear one. I played line and linebacker and only wore it the first year. The things are uncomfortable.

By the way: never got hit there.

Uh, did any of the rest of you that answer know that none of the NFL players wear a cup?

And I'm betting that most of the NCAA Div I players don't wear one either.

And they do seem to have children.....

Unless you don't want kids don't wear one. But there's always people out there who want to get a cheap shot in.

no. unless you want your balls to be crushed. Think if somebody stepped on it. What if somebody start grabbing it. What if somebody started kicking it? Think about the possibilities.
