http://www.hotels.co.uk/ for hotels. http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/ for guesthouses.
http://www.yha.org.uk/ for UK hostels.
http://www.visitlondon.co.uk/ and http://www.londonforfun.com/london.htm for London tourist info.
Remember that the closer you stay to the centre, the more expensive it becomes. Also visit http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/ to view the tube map whilst looking for somewhere to stay and for more info on Oyster - get an Oyster card whilst in London as it will be cheaper to travel.

There's a Premier Travel Inn at County Hall (by the London eye) that's nice enough.. or the Regents Palace Hotel at Piccadilly Circus that is cheap and cheerful but very central and also has a good Irish bar downstairs!

You will be better served finding a hotel outside London, and use the train each day to enter the main areas of inner London. Only about 3 miles out should be easy.

Try the Lonsdale Hotel in Bedford Place. It is just off Russell Square in the heart of Central London. My wife and I had quite a good night there a few years ago. Let's just say they was lots of whipped cream involved...

The Bedford Hotel near Russell Square.
Ask for a bedroom overlooking the garden at the back of the hotel. it's very quiet in those rooms. The ones at the front of the hotel are facing the main road. They are very noisy.
Enjoy your holiday.

Cheaper than what?

Just joking, don't look for a hotel or motel in london, here...you need a "Bed 'n' Breakfast"...otherwise known as a B'n'B....that's the only way you'll pay very little to stay and eat...

It's like staying in someone's spare room and eating for money...not too bad if you don't have much money...

You will find this in the same place as Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. The cheap hotels are a nightmare in London.

There is only one: the Generator in Bloomsbury. It is a great place with bar, restaurant ad nice people to make sure you are safe. It likes young people.
