Did Jimi Hendrix record the song "Are You Experienced" forward? or did he just do it and played it backwards?

He recorded the song in normal time, including the guirar solo. The guitar solo you hear on the song is backward however. The engineer used the original guitar track, but dubbed it into the mix backwards. I don't know whose idea it was to go playing with the solo guitar track.

He recorded it forwards...he was an amazing artist.
