Kinda like how comics tour college campuses to test out new material.

Not really. If they are a good band, then great. I will want to see them in concert. Maybe some people haven't seen them yet, maybe they got stuck in the studio and decided to go on tour...maybe they are a little broke. Who knows, I am just happy when I get to see a group that I haven't seen live yet. It's called promotion, they need to get their names out there for the stuff they have already too!

It bothers me even more when a band goes on tour and they sing NONE of their old songs, only the new stuff that no one has ever heard.
I like it when there's a good balance of old and new.

No, not really... I know plenty of bands that go out on the road without new material...and it is very enjoyable

Nope. The concerts that I go to, the bands usually have stuff that they want to play that they don't plan on releasing. I feel kind of special that they play it for us and not the general public. :-)

No.
A great live band is still great, whatever they play. Their repertoire or backcatlogue does not ever suddenly become rubbish because it's more than five minutes old.
