I currently work in a gas station, I can't stand the job and I'm working every single day that I don't go to college. It's making it hard to keep up on school work. Is there ANYTHING I can do from home that I can make the money needed to commute back and forth to school twice a week and pay what few bills I have? This is getting ridiculous. I barely have any time for homework much less a social life.

I lived in a large city with several big hotels during college. I worked for the catering department at one and freelanced at others as a waiter or bartender, depending on the event.

The pay was good and the work easy, once I learned how to balance a big tray of food and how to mix drinks (not rocket science).

The way it works is you show up before the event and get your station set up (tables or bar, etc). The people come and you serve them. They leave, you clean your station and leave, too. It's not usually as long as a shift at a j-o-b.

Basically, it's a job where you go to parties for a living and often eat for free. It helps if you're not too shy, though that doesn't really hold you back--just more fun with the people you're serving.

You see a lot of the same people doing this job at different locations around town--so you can network and find out about upcoming events to work.

The downside is that it's not a regular schedule. It's usually nights and weekends, but not usually THAT late so that you can still get your rest AND study.

BTW, I got into the habit of sleeping a couple of hours, waking up to study a couple of hours feeling rested, then getting a couple more hours of sleep, then going to classes. It worked great for me.

Hope you're enjoying your college experience as much as I did.
