There are so many "germicidal, sterilizing and antibacterial" products on the market - don't you think that this is overkill? People aren't supposed to get "dirty" anymore - so how can we possibly build up an immunity to illnesses and diseases?

Couldn't agree more.

There is healthy common sense when it comes to hygiene, and there is unhealthy obsession.

And I'd say that unhealthy obsession is all the rage these days.

You're right! There's a difference between being filthy and "dirty". You can't get rid of all the germs, especially from kids, because their immune systems need to know what germs are and how to fight them off.

The fact that we make can make products that have "antimicrobial" properties in just about anything, says yes we have become so germaphobic that we soon have to coat ourselves in specialize antimicrobial, nanotechnologied rubber daily just to survive.

Absolutely! It's as though we'd like to shut down our immune systems by not letting them work to get strong. It's typical of our society these days. We hate to work out, get strong and be responsible.

One time I was at the bar, ordering another drink, and I put my money on top of my mug. The health-nut bartender yelled at me.

"Do you have ANY idea how dirty that money is?" She yelled.
"Yep," I said, "Do you have ANY idea how often I get sick?"
She shrugged.
"Never."
"Never?"
"Not since I was a kid."
"Really?"
"Really."
She hasn't complained about cleanliness since.
