As a country, we spend more on health care than any other nation in the world, yet our health is ranked 17th in the world? What's wrong with this picture?

a whole lot. first off we have no health coverage for everyone, second we have an obesity problem, third we depend on docs to think for us and when it doesn't go well we sue them, so they charge more and have higher insurance costs. also then they do things that cost more to cover their bottoms from getting sued. instead we need to think for our selves while working with our docs on our health and be more responsible for our own health. also the drinking and smoking issues in this country are a drain on the health system. so if we all ate healthy, worked out, stopped smoking, stopped drinking alcohol started thinking for our selves and helping our docs, not letting them lead us blindly then i think we could bring down the cost of health care a whole lot in this country... also its a business people are making money so the incentive to change it is small... just think their is a drug for everything things we didn't even know needed drugs... the pharmaceutical companies are also to blame.

You are 100% correct. I feel that the money going into the system is not going where it should be going...pt care for example. Not to line the pockets of the ones in charge of the money. Have you ever been in a Dr's office and have a Drug Rep come in and bring gifts and lunchs for the Dr and his/her staff.? This also may include trips to very nice resorts....where does this money come from? Why does a 4+4 gauze bandage cost $.45 at a drugstore but $1.79 at a hospital. Why does a Dr charge ..and gets more for seeing a pt in the Hospital than they do in thier office ? WE the people need to do something about the US Health Sysetm. I'm up for Ideas.
