SWOT is a whole plan of action. It consists of Strength Weakness analysis leading to Value chain leading to Story writing and Opportunities and Threat analysis lead to the five organs which culminate along with strength and weakness to the the story board this lead to strategic intent and from there to the actual plan.
Matched pair analysis is analysing strategies of matching organizations and planning your own accordingly. To put it simply analysing similarities and dissimilarities in organizations.
In theory strategy planning involves game theory. You have to identify environment. Then you draw out either something called extensive form or normal form graphs. From this figure out your policies.

SWOT is a much broader schema. covering strengths weaknesses oppotunities and threats, to performa full cycle analysis of the business. How to avoid mishaps perform better, utilize current traights and prepare for the unaviodable whereas:

Matched - Pair = actual statistical analysis of market and industry conditions.

Only thing is that matched-pair is usually only performin in medical fields not financial. Hope this helps.
