Everyone (including me) downloads music and movies from limewire, but I don't know a single person that got caught yet.

Back when my friends and I were in high school, we used to download music and videos all the time. One of my friends ended up having almost 7000 files being shared on his computer. None of us ever got caught. I don't do it anymore, though, because LimeWire and filesharing programs like it are feeding grounds for computer hackers and stuff.

Not everyone downloads music and movies, especially from limewire. (I don't use limewire :P or any downloading program for that matter...)
I doubt the government at any level has truely persued the chase of tracking down downloaders. There are rumors, but I'm not sure if any are truely plausible.

Well I don't know what site he was downloading from but my best friend's son got caught. She wound up paying a big fine.

No one that I know of. I think it's just bullshit to scare people. Maybe if you get caught selling hundreds of cds and movies on the street corner then you'll be in trouble but that's about it.
