I cut my wrist on a Bow Saw blade - probably needed stitches, but just used those tiny plaster strips from boots. It bled loads- all night. Do i leave it now? (happened 2 days ago)

To answer your first question, if left unsutured or otherwise unclosed, the wound heals by secondary intention and leaves a noticeable scar. The laceration needs to be assessed and the wound lips may need closure. Go to your own doctor or to an urgent care clinic. The lac may or may not be sutured at this point. Steri-strips may be used instead but after 2 days just a dressing may be applied. As I cannot see the lac for myself, I can't be more specific.

To answer your second question, get it looked at soon.

FYI: It's too late for peroxide. Do not use it, it will kill developing skin cells.

Steri strips or "buterfly " bandaids . Ues them to pull and tape the wound shut. if applied properly you shouldn't have a much larger scar than if you got stiches. Leave them on for 7 to 10 days or the cut will open back up. Make sure you clean it well first. Salt and water should do the trick . Using peroxide kills the good with the bad so it will take longer to heal if you keep using it. a gauze with salt water (Saline) soaker once a day soak for 20 min. should keep it clean. Polysporin works pretty good too. a little oozing pus is ok but if it starts to stink or turn green see the doc ASAP.

It is too late to get it stitched now (have to do that within 12 hours of the injury), so providing you keep the wound clean and covered it should heal OK except that you will have a thicker scar that if it had been stitched. Once the wound has healed put Bio Oil or Vitamin E cream on the scar - they help a lot to lessen the scar..

I'd still see A&E even if it's not bleeding. Stitches are there for a reason - to securely hold the sides together to prevent infection and to minimise scar tissue which may later need removing via surgery. (Scar tissue can grow and cause problems, especialy in areas like the wrist.)

if the bleeding has stopped leave it but cover it so you do not get an infection. it will leave a wider scar probably but remember hospitals use steristrip rather than stitches for most cuts. infection is the danger you should really check you are up to date with your tetanus jabs, if not go and get one

you should have it looked at by a professional in case of infection.what may happen is that the scar will be bigger than if you had had stitches.if it gets very red around then you may have infection and will need to see a doctor for antibiotics

will just leave a big scar and would also take longer to heal stitches pull the wound tight and leave a thinner scar.

No, go to a clinic and check it out. What can happen? An infection
and a terrible scar.
