I love being with big groups of people and my friend only has a couple of good girlfriends. She is expecting that I plan time, holidays with her, but I'm outgrowing her. How can I or should I explain to her that I need to be with new people? I don't know what to do. We are 16 years old

she needs to figure out that you need your own space. NOT that you don't want to spend time w/her, but that you have outgrown her. dont let her hold you back from hanging out w/other ppl, but also dont completely forget about her.
talk to her! don't be mean, because when a friend says they dont wanna be as close to you, it can hurt. trust me, i've gone through this before. when/if you do tell her how you feel, be gentle, yet still firm.

First of all why are you still communicating w/ your ex-girlfriend. Please don't tell me you believe in that " we can still be friends" crap. Because that never works. If your still talking to your ex like nothing ever happened that only giving her hope that you two will get back together.
Surronding yourself w/ new people is a good thing but make sure those new people are not a bad influence on you or vise versa.
Sit down and talk to her that you are growing as an indivdual and that you need to find out who you are and who you want to become. If she does not understand that and throws a hissy fit, then just tell her that your not the same guy she once knew
Good Luck

Be straight up and tell her the truth. She'll probably hate you for a while, but eventually she will find new people to hang out with.

Just tell her how you feel. Let her know you'd rather be around big groups of people.
