People didn't evolve FROM monkeys, monkeys and humans share a common primate ancestor which is now extinct
According to best fossil evidence and the genetic clock, (which measures the difference in genetic material) chimps and man diverged from a common ancestor about 6 million years ago. That common ancestor in turn split from the group that became gorillas about 7 million yrs ago; Orangutans about 14 million yrs, gibbons about 18 million yrs and the group that became Old World Monkeys, about 25 million years ago.

From more primitive monkeys that vanished. By the way, humans did not evolve from monkeys that still exist, those ancestors went extinct eons ago.

By the way, ignore the answerers who are saying "common ancestor." If I showed you a picture of that common ancestor, you'd pick it up and say "that's a picture of a monkey!"

their ancestors, their ancestores came from fish, that crawled on land and adapted to living on land, and fish came from plancton, and plancton came from the aliens that landed here and put plancton seeds on this planet
