If you can't set it on a curb, freecycle is the best.
When I tried to get rid of my couches, which were in decent shape I might add, no charity would take them. Not even the Salvation Army. Something about wondering about fluids and infestations.
Here's one, if you live near a college you could put up flyers on the bulletin boards saying "Free couch!" and you'd have people calling left and right!

i have found the best way is to put it on a curb and by next morning it will be gone .or you can always put a price like $10 on it then just give it away to them.; sometimes its like this,if you have pups to get rid of people would rather give something than nothing cause if it free there must be "something wrong with it"

Call a local charity like Habitat for Humanity, Salvation army etc...theres some out there who will pick it up, others may want u to deliver

put it on the lawn with a free sign or goodwill if in perfect shape or find a Charity that has a thrift shop or supports homeless who need furniture once get un-homeless.
say city where you are in email to me and i'll look it up, too.

craigslist.com is great. You may even be able to sell it on Craigslist if it is decent enough. If not, you can say something like, "free couch to first one who picks it up..."
Also, it is a great website to find stuff you may be looking for!!
