A lot of people don't read carefully. The see a couple of words, assume the question is asking for whatever it is they have to say, and answer.
Often, I see the top-level question (the thing that appears on the home page, etc.), think I know what it's asking, but, when I click and read Details, it's a completely different question.
Often, in those cases, a lot of the answers are what I originally thought the question was, leading me to believe the others didn't read the details at all.
Some people just have some bug up their butts and want to spew whatever it is in answer to every question, whether relevant or not.
As others have pointed out, a lot of times they just type whatever comes into their heads because they want those All-Powerful, Holy, Shiny, Golden Points (that don't do them any good anyway).
Sometimes I don't answer the question, because the question makes a false assumption. In those cases, I explain why I think the question is misguided. Does that count?

Because their opinion is their answer to your question. What else do you expect them to say? You ask the question "is the grass green or brown" you will get a lot of different answers because everyone does not see the grass the same way! Does the earth move or do the clouds move? well actually they both move!! It is all about opinions. Yes most people on here just want to get the points. But I however really try to help people by trying to honestly answer their question. No one really has the answer you are wanting, they just give you things to think about so you can make up your own mind.

Quite often you find that the actual question being asked is badly worded, poorly phrased or deliberately left open ended. In these cases it is often difficult to give a direct answer of the "yes" "no" type and the answer is more like a debating point adding to the discussion but not being certain enough to finalize it.
In short, sometimes they don't answer because it isn't always a question that can be answered.

I see most questions asked are written in an opinion form.People that ask legal questions should state where they live the law is different from state to state.People don't like to be pined down to making a decision about someones life so if you give an opinion you can't be held responsible for the wrong answer.

I disagree with you. I think most of the answers are about the questions being asked. Have put a question here myself and got a lot of good answers

In many cases an opinion is an answer. People answer a question with how they, themselves, would deal with the situation involved. They do not state that it is the one and only answer but just one of many. It is offered because they feel empathy for the person asking and would like to offer their experience and opinion to enable that person to decide what is best for their situation.
Just my own opinion =).

You can't even ask the question straight and you expect that you'll get straight answers. Straight clear questions will get straight clear answers. Jumbled mumbo jumbo will give you the same as replies. Clear now?

Some people just do not care about people's feelings. They are answering to get points or just playing as a pasttime. LL.
