Gaydar offer a load of chatrooms, they are broken down into areas (Essex, Kent etc). There are some really nice people using them. I met my boyfriend there, and have made some good friends. As with all chatrooms there are some creeps there but there are more nice people than weirdos.
I would NOT recommend gay.com, all the guys there seem to be weirdos (this is from personal experience). If you just want quick hook ups this is the one for you, but if you wanna chat to nice people then go for gaydar.
