There is such thing as free, you might just have to do some legwork.

Go to google and type "free pos software" (without the quotes) and you get lots of results.

There are 2 excellent FREE POS software downloads. The first one being the Dale Harris POS . Go to Google and Type Keyhut POS. This is a dos based point of sale but does everything, though designed for keyboard rather than touch screen. It can be used with any printer though you may need to setup whats called a network loop adapter if you are using a USB connection printer or use the software provided, but I found it was better using a network loop adapter connection. The 2nd good software is Regit Express. Its totally free and works well but unlike the Dale Harris POS it doesn't allow for Tax Included for all international users, though I am informed that its soon to include this which will make it by far one of the best free and well built POS available. I am guessing, but think it will be available sometime in March 2014, but not too sure of that. All I know is it will be around the anniversary date of the company which I believe to be sometime in march, but i could be wrong.

no such thing.

keep looking around....there are cheap POS systems. Few years ago I got one out of cali for bout $300. was cheap looking but it all worked fine.

or you might be able to talk to the local college or trade school and see if any students have done school projects or if the teacher would like to take your POS system as a class project. its one way to get it cheap or free.

Good Question,

Free point of sale software tends to have limits or hidden charges. You might want to try a real time point of sale system. Real time systems like RunIt Real Time Point of Sale are subscription based; which means that you simply pay as you go. The monthly charge are very affordable and it include unlimited software support. They work with both apparel/footwear as with any non-sized based inventory.
