I've been discussing this with my Japanese husband, and we're not aware of any specific date on which Winter always begins. He just says that December, January and February are thought of as being Winter - March, April and May are considered Spring - and so on..!

That doesn't mean that someone, somewhere, in some laboratory for example, hasn't decided that a particular date is the start of Winter - it just means that we, personally, haven't heard of such a thing!

Tokyo is not only the political and economical centre of Japan but it has also emerged as a centre of the world economy and culture so is a city worth visit; with hotelbye you will see more. There are a number of attractions in Tokyo that should not be missed. There are large-scale downtown areas, including Ginza where famous shops from around the world stand side by side, the sleepless Shinjuku that has become the "new city centre of Tokyo," Asakusa which is reminiscent of the traditional Edo (the former name of Tokyo) and Shibuya that starts the trends for the young people. Tokyo is an interesting city, a city that you will never forget once you visit it.

Japan is a long series of islands, covering a range of latitude of 25 degrees - from subarctic Hokkaido to subtropical Okinawa (no real winter).
Winter arrives in Japan towards the end of November. The northen side of the central mountain range, nearest the Asian continent, has snow, as do many of the higher mountains - skiing is a big sport in Japan.

the only month that I honestly have ever encountered snow may be the month of February and probably January, no longer often ever yet whilst it extremely is an extremely chilly winter then December. Sorry, i do no longer undergo in ideas what month it snowed whilst i grew to become into like 3! LOL And that's in Yokohama, that's merely approximately an hour far flung from Tokyo.

After Autumn

The main rainy season begins in early May in Okinawa, and the stationary rain front responsible for this gradually works its way north until it dissipates in northern Japan before reaching Hokkaidō in late July. In most of Honshū, the rainy season begins before the middle of June and lasts about six weeks. In late summer and early autumn, typhoons often bring heavy rain.

Japan is home to nine forest ecoregions which reflect the climate and geography of the islands. They range from subtropical moist broadleaf forests in the Ryūkyū and Bonin islands, to temperate broadleaf and mixed forests in the mild climate regions of the main islands, to temperate coniferous forests in the cold, winter portions of the northern islands.
