Not all New Yorkers need shrinks. Some might feel an undue amount of stress from living and working here and find therapy helpful. I'm a New Yorker and I don't see a shrink... I just have a drink!

Ha, no all New Yorkers don't need a shrink. I mean, if you define "New Yorkers" as people who live in Manhattan, yeah a hell of a lot do. But I don't, and at least half my friends don't.
I think that people living in a big city, who perhaps exaggerate their stress, living in a socially cold environment, find it useful to have someone whom they can talk to without judgement, and with whom they can think clearly in a busy world.
I personally think that a lot of people just have shrinks to be fashionable, but to answer the question, every New Yorker doesn't need a shrink hehe.
(And I'm sorry to those who have had bad experiences with New Yorkers; many of us are nice people, promise!)

people in NEW YORK CITY especially in Mnhattan have stressful lives so a lot probably need them, but some probably just want to seem cool, but not a lot of them have shrinks but every one else in NEW YORK STATE doesnt have them well a lot dont but only the ones who need them, nobody remembers the rest of the state except for vacation spots but hello we're here, there have been many famous well not really famous but famous people to come out of the rest of New York like Adam Terry a pro football player came from my town and Rachael Ray came from a town right next to mine, I rambling alot aren't I? I'll stop now. but all the New Yorkers I have met are very nice the ones on the streets in Manhattan most of them arent from NYC they are visiting if you go into the stores and talk to the people that work there they are so friend there was a survey done on the politest city in the world recently and it said that NYC was the most polite

Fashionable? LOL...and Costly! I think New Yorkers live a much faster paced life...always in a Hurry! Yes I think all New Yorkers have a shrink or need one...LOL...nice question..(smile)

LOL, You ever been around those freaking New Yorkers!! Hell Yes; every God Damned one of them should be in some type of freaking therapy!!! It must be the NY water supply, those Indians that sold Manhattan knew that the wells were poison!!!

I know what you mean.. No.. they are just like that.. giving the appearances of being mean, nasty... but New Yorkers are not ALL like that.. it is mostly the venders along the street, ALL taxi cab drivers, etc so one who goes theres.. just has to live with it

If you've ever lived in new york.....the answer is YES! I hated new york.... However, yeah, it seems to be fashionable to have a shrink.

I don't live there, but I have like 4 friends do....they said that it's so weird if you're not visiting a shrink in NY...they look at you as if you're an alien...lol...I duuno if it's true...but it's really fashionable there...
