I had an ovary removed seven months ago. We're ttc and I'm trying to figure out when I ovulate. Just wondering if now I only ovulate every other month due to the lack of one ovary.

They dont really take turns but each of them do release eggs, it is not always the opposite every month.
((Each month, many eggs mature inside the ovary. The largest is expelled into the pelvic cavity and swept into the fallopian tube. Which ovary releases the egg is fairly arbitrary. Ovulation does not necessarily rotate between ovaries each cycle))--> from the website below...this is a really good website to learn about ovulation and how it takes place

That is a fact, your ovaries take turns releasing eggss. Therefore you can only get pregnant every other month. I would suggest getting ovulation predictor kits to track which months and approximately what times you are ovulating. Then you can have a better understanding of how to go about your family planning.

I am pretty sure that your remaining ovary takes over and does the producing every month now. The ladies at fertilethoughts.net in the IVF forum are super smart, and there are several who are TTC with one tube. You may want to join. It is free, and the women are very supportive and knowledgeable. Good luck!

I honestly have twins! There are 2 strategies multiples can ensue. the 1st, some woman (me!) launch greater effective than one egg according to month. each of those eggs gets fertlized by way of diverse sperm, and that reasons a various delivery. And 2nd, an egg can cut up (after it extremely is been fertilized)! So, interior the case of a woman who basically produces one egg according to month ... her egg has cut up (it breaks in 2, or 3, or 4, and so on.) and that reasons a various delivery. i'm uncertain why your textbook is incorrect!

Usually, yes - it's kind of neat and efficient, when you think about it - but sometimes they release at the same time, or one skips a month!
