Emo's certainly are not into cutting themselves. You've been given the wrong information. Emo's listen to 'emotive' music. They are the modern day poets and artists, you only have to listen to the music of My Chemical Romance to see what I mean. They may dress in black but they are not as extreme as Goths. Death can be romanticised in emo music but the advocation of doing harm is only symbolic. My daughter is an emo and I'm really proud of her...so glad she didn't turn into a chav. Emos and Chavs hate each other - on a par with the Mods and Rockers of the 50's/ 60's.

Wow, I had a lot of trouble understanding your question. I thought it was in another language at first. Maybe next time you pose a question you should at least spell it properly.

As for the subject, cutting yourself is wrong, it is not a trait of any style or lifestyle except for an unhealthy one. Cutting yourself means that you have severe psychological problems and are in need of assistance from a professional. The source where you got your information from is ultimately wrong. Emos are just "emotional", they listen to emo oriented music, and dress a certain way. It is not associated with cutting yourself, only what they put out in the media too "demonize" it.

Some, as in any group cut themeselves. I've known "preppy" girls that have slashed themeselves up. Does that fit into a "proper" "category", no. Like I said, psychological, not trend. As for people who do it to be "cool", they are just losers.

People who *genuinely* cut themselves - ie. not superficial scratches on the arm but deep gouges down to the muscle layer (seen mate do it) - have serious psychological problems that need addressing. Allying that to a genre of music is pathetic. It'll phase out just like many other types of music. So no, you don't need to cut yourself unless; a) you're incredibly stupid, or; b) want to fit in with the crowd.

When I was a teenager I was stuck into listening to one sort of music (goth, seeing you didn't ask) but as you grow up, you realise there's fantastic music everywhere that doen't involve self-harm to be percieved as convincing. Look at Richy from the Manics. *Serious* self-harmer, and although never found, probably very dead.

I don't think you have to cut yourself. To be an emo is just being really emotional. As 1 in 10 people are self harmers, or know a self harmer, and as emotional people are more likely to do it, then I think an emo is more likely to self harm than a non-emo. But I don't think they HAVE to do it. Isn't labelling someone as an emo just a way of saying this person is really emotional and cries a lot?

it is RIDICULOUS. self-harm is unlike getting yet another plastic bracelet or pair of stripy knee extreme socks, it incredibly is a psychological disease. it incredibly is undesirable for each physique in touch, mutually with the cutter themselves. i dont burn down church homes, does that advise i won't be able to take heed to black metallic? accused of no longer being "an emo"...EMO IS A form! I have been given accused of no longer being "a rock" as quickly as, which made extra sense than this does. intrigued via what character features you have self assurance you will possibly desire to label your self as this inspite of the indisputable fact that, from what the media (by way of fact that's the media. they labelled this circulate in simple terms like they labelled grunge.) has stated, it easily includes wearing eyeliner and having your hair over your face. and moping. possibly slouching a splash. so what, you pay attention to emotionally in touch rock/punk/melodic crossover music? i detect The scientific care a good purchase extra emotionally related to than the maximum recent little ditty from Panic on the Disco (they are emo, top?) yet they are not emo. i will additionally delight in the blatant catchyness of a few Fall Out Boy songs, devoid of feeling the might desire to enhance my straightners, purchase a pair of thick rimmed glasses and rock the felt tip below threes in my myspace profile. pay attention to besides the fact that the hell you choose, dress besides the indisputable fact that the hell you choose and attempt to no longer persist with the p.c.. in this insanely stupid "Emo" section!
