Make her part of the process. Let her see EVERYTHING as it happens. Children can be very good at event planning, but often lack the capacity for detailed evaluations and multitasking. Teach her how to make and use lists properly. It's an invaluable skill as an adult anyway.

I'd say the best way to do it is to plan an event together--maybe a birthday party or a slumber party. You could discuss all the things you want for the party (a place to have it, decorations, food, entertainment, etc.), and then break down everything that needs to be done into simple steps with a time line. It's also a good opportunity to show her that, even with the best of planning, unexpected things do happen and it's good to learn how to "roll with the punches" and have Plan Bs.

A REALLY great way for her to learn about it would be to have the ability to shadow an event planner for a day. If that's at all possible, I'd look into it. You're a great parent for asking people in the first place- I love that you're looking into your daughter's interests. :)

I'd also allow her to plan an event like other people have suggested. She could do a neighborhood fashion show, a charity fundraiser, a Halloween party, a Christmas party, etc. The possibilities are limitless.

Let her plan a party.

My sister's Cadette Girls Scout Troop (13-15 year olds) just planned a party for my daughter's Brownie Girl Scout Troop(6-9 year olds).

Everyone had a great time.
