In college there was this guy (I say was because he is no more) I dint talk to him much but he helped me once or twice in class and he sat directly behind me... I dint know his address until yesterday when I heard that he was killed in an accident should i go to his place considering that it is across town from where I stay?? But the real prob. is that some of my friends are going b'coz they live comparatively near by

Oh and an answer from a hindu costom point of view would be appreciated

I think it would be nice to visit him with your friends and pay your respects to him... but I don't think attending his funeral would be good...

My sister had a friend who died when she was in college and she visited him but didn't go to his funeral.

Yes, you should go, out of respect, I am not a Hindu, but I would think that somethings don't change.
