I have two ferrets and they both have their scent gland removed which helps with the smell. They don't smell too bad as long as you keep the litter box clean and they do have sprays and things you can put in their food to keep the smell down.
They are very playful and need at least 2-4 hrs each day out of a cage. They sleep for quite a bit during the day usually in a hammock or something cozy. Sometimes mine will try to play with my feet when I walk buy and nip at them but it's just them being playful. They don't bite trying to be mean.
They are a lot of fun if you have the time and money to spend feeding them and buying them a large cage. I use a mix of kitten food and ferret food and they are very healthy. Hope this helps!

Ferrets are in the mink family, which means they are animals that secrete a musky odour. If you have a big cage where you can change the wood chips often, then can be quite liveable. But the maintenance is quite a task.
Ferrets definitely have personality, they are intelligent and trainable. They are also are surprisingly strong (I saw one move my bed once!!) and they have a pretty strong bite for their size.
If you have only one ferret, maintenance is easier, but they are fairly social animals that require regular attention.
Ferret proofing your house can be quite a task, if they get loose in your house you can hardly imagine all the places they can get into. Also, they are thieves! They will steal about anything soft and squishy they can get their paws on. From magic rubber bouncing balls, to mitts and gloves, sponges and so on.
If you can live with the maintenance, they can be adorable, friendly and very playful pets. Getting them a good harness and leash and taking them outdoors can be quite fun as well.

I currently have 2, they do smell ,but you can get stuff like bi-odor and stuff like that to help with the smell. They have their times where they get rough, and will bite, but not from being mean. They get carried away and nip to hard.
Ferrets are very playful and never run out of energy. They are constantly on the move. They never slow down. When they do stop, they usually go right to sleep!

In my experience it really depends on the ferret. I had a ferret that liked to bite. She was a good ferret other then that.
My last ferret was awesome, she never bit and had a great personality. She even came when I called her.
When you get them from a pet store I believe they are supposed to be all ready de-scented which helps a great deal with odor reduction (removal of scent glands). Personally I found that the poop really never smelled bad it was the urine. If you let them out to play observe corners they tend to poo in any corner if you let them. Although you can with time teach them to go in a litter box. Mine was litter trained but if one of the cats had used it before her she would refuse to use it. As for playful definatly, and different ferrets like different toys. My last ferret enjoyed rubber toys. She also had two tiny bean bag stuffed animals that she would bring into her bed to sleep with, no matter how far from her bed I put them she would drag them back!
They sleep alot but when they are up they are on the go- and you have to ferret proof the house, they get into everything. If they can fit their head under it, or in it they can slip their whole body through. My ferret enjoyed the company of my cats alot. When my cat had her kittens I let her meet them, she tried to take the biggest kitten with her as if it were her's,so cute.
I think they can be very good pets but they do require alot of attention they hate to be locked up and are happiest when they can get out of their cage regularly. Hope that helped

they smell nasty, i used to deal with 7 at college and the smell stays on your hands for days after washing but other than that they are pretty fun, they are carnivorous which means you can give em cat food to keep em full or a special ferret food from either james wellbeloved or supreme

i think they smell, and it is illigal to have them...... at least where i live.... maybee it's a state thing. welll n e ways... they r pretty mean. my dad was sleeping in the guest bedroom of his brothers house and he woke up to a ferret with it's teeth seeped into his neck. they are EXTREAMLY and DANGEROUSLY territorial. i don't think , personally that is, that they make good pets. i think they make horrible pets. but that is my opinion.

They are extremely mischievous. They'll steal anything shiny. They love to climb up inside furniture. And they do need to be de-scented or else they stink.
