I have an NEC 3520 AW ("W" is from latest firmware).
I want to make it into a regionfree or region 0 drive so I do not have to worry about running out of region changes.
Is there a program that I can buy or download or is there a flash utility that can change the setting to region 0?
I do not have to worry about warranty issues, as it is more than one year old and the warranty is over. I really do want to be careful, as to not ruin the drive, because it has been a very, very good burner.
Any help or experiences that anyone has ad with this issue on this drive would be most appreciated.

There are two software programs that I know of which can help you. Have you tried:

1. RegionKiller [Freeware](http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/RegionKiller/1021575740/1)

"RegionKiller takes care of the proper functioning of your (Region Code free) DVD Drive. From now on you'll be able to watch foreign DVDs on your home theater PC without being hassled by possibly non-working DVDs." -- description written by publisher

2. DVD Region+CSS Free [Shareware](http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm)

DVD Region Free works a little differently. What it does is to make the DVD region free and not the DVD drive.

DVD ROM and +/- R/RW drives are area unfastened. They play chum and NTSC so some distance as i'm in touch. Its the DVD gamers interior the domicile which at the instant are not area unfastened, you ought to purchase them yet they're each so often greater high priced.

DVD ROM and +/- R/RW drives are region free. They play PAL and NTSC as far as I am concerned.

Its the DVD players in the house that are not region free, you can buy them but they are sometimes more expensive.

They do have cracked bios flashes for different ones, but keep in mind you risk perminatly damaging your drive. Your best bet is to find a old dvd player, add it to your computer and crack that one if possible.
