I asked this Question earlier but apparently I didn't make myself very clear. I went to my Doctor with a Strong Cough and Tightness in my Chest. The Nurse took my Blood Pressure and my Temp. My wife told the Nurse that I was having shortness of Breath while I sleep. The Nurse said That is what Patients do when blowing off a Fever, my temp was 100 and I'm not sure if she told the Doctor. well the Doctor listened to my Chest with his Stethiscope and said I have Bronchitis and he said I have slight Fluid build-up in my Lungs. He did not do X-Rays. Some friends said that X-rays should be done if nothing else but to rule out something serious. Are my friends correct or are they and myself just being Paranoid?

Radiographs would have been beneficial. Some MD's practice very conservatively and others very aggressively causing their patients unneeded test. If you are not better go back to see the MD or change MD. If you think or want an x-ray speak up. The doctor may give his reasoning for not doing one but may order for your piece of mind. Remember doctors are human and they make mistakes also.

The doctor really should have done an X-Ray for precautionary measures. If he heard fluid in your lungs then he should have checked to make sure that you didn't have pneumonia. The antibiotics he gave you for your bronchitis would have also cleared up the pneumonia but you should have been made more aware of your situation. It's just plain common courtesy.

UR friends are absolutely right, some doctors are over-confident about their diagnosis that they risk patients life by not doing investigations. It is mandatory to have chest X-ray done for each & every patient with chest finding on clinical examination. So better u change ur doctor.

Your friends are correct, the tightness in the chest alone should have been done to verify there were no spots, as well as the possibility of other culprits.

Why not speak to your doctor and voice your concerns?
