One part I didn't notice anyone else say...use your elbow to test the water temp. Your hand is not a good measure. You elbow is more sensitive and is a better measure whether or not its too hot. You don't want to use what feels good to you because the baby's skin is MUCH much more sensitive....since its basically new skin, not worn by years of being the sun. And don't worry about answering the phone until you know what you are doing. No distractions!!! Try making dinner while talking on the phone and see how many mistakes you make. Bathing is an area that mistakes can be costly! Be careful and do everything with love!

Really, you shouldn't be babysitting a baby if you don't know how to give it a bath.Do you have a baby bath tub?If you don't then just fill the bath tub up with about 3-4 inches of water. Warm, but not very warm.Use baby soap and one of her wash clothes if she has them, if she doesn't,then use the softest clean one you can find.make sure you hold her up, and don't leave her alone for a second.
good luck, and next time ask your parents how or tell them you don't know how to babysit a baby that little. If you plan to babysit again, watch how you mom and dad dose it and learn from them.

In the last question you said your sister was 3 years old. Now she is 5 months? HHHMMMMM
If you are telling the truth (which I doubt) then wait for your parents to come home before you bathe her. Don't bathe her if you have to get on the computer to find out how.

It is best to use a baby bath tub. I used the drain board in the kitchen. Never attempt to give a small baby a bath in a regular bath tub. Have your mother run through the procedure with you, before you attempt it on Your own. Always keep in mind the safety of the baby. Never even for one second take your eyes off of her. Keep her in your field of vision, no matter what.

Use warm water. Not a lot of water in the tub either, is there a baby bath thing you can use? wash her gently, make sure no soap gets in her eyes, or use the no-tears kind...NEVER LEAVE HER ALONE. take the phone with you wherever you go incase you have to answer it...just be careful.

Just use a soft washcloth dipped in warm water. Just lay her on a towel on the bed or changing table and wash her with a wet washcloth. Don't even bother with soap today. Next time ask your mom how she wants her to be bathed. Be careful with her! She's very fragile.

Call your parents and ask them how to do it. If you cannot contact them then maybe you should wait until they get home to show you how to give the baby a bath.

If you dont Know how to give her a bath, then dont do it, even though they told you to. Just wait for them to come home and tell them that you didnt feel comfortable doing it and that you would like ot watch them do it first and learn how to exactly
