I'm in a relationship, this is how I look at it. Everyone else see's it as an interracial relationship, when we're all people.
I'm white and my girlfiend is black. My mothers side of the family loves her, my fathers side is very uncomfortable with her. Her father likes me, her mother is skeptical ( her mother who is half white). I've never meet the rest of her family because she's not close with them. Her two black/asian friends like me alot. Her black guy friends just tolerate me while her black girl friends like me a lot.
One more thing, black men hate seeing us together and older white people act as though they want to lynch us both. What is everyones opinion on this madness?

Well I am an older woman with grandchildren and a multicultural family as well as gay friends.N o one first all can help who they fall in love with but you must realize not everyone is open nor are they open to anything new.some of us is from the baby boomers and others older then myself still have trouble with black nd white even being together and compound with a gay relationship is a whole another ball game thats not witness in God's eyes,so all I can say is others feelings and indiffenencs has to be put aside and go on with your lives if this is what you have chosen. In this date and time we need love and companionship, because it beats the hell out of being alone

Some people are just never going to except interracial relationships. it has to do with along line of racisim and hurt for many races. Just remember why you are together with that person. when i get older, i plan on marring a white boy because i feel they respect me more than black boys would. It's all about who you are

This is really unbelievable - I can't believe people who care about you would make your lives so difficult completely unnecessarily!

Where do you live by the way? I haven't got any personal experience of this so I don't properly know what all the reactions would be here - but I have got friends who are in relationships that happen to be mixed background - and I THINK that things, especially amongst younger people, aren't that bad where I live (London).

Most people fear what they cannot understand. In this case, their fear is lack of approval for you and your girlfriend becuase of colour not who you are. As long as you two are happy, it doesn't matter what other people think. The relationship belongs to you two not everyone else. In this crazy world we live in, people will still not tolerate what they deem to be wrong. Be happy together and leave the rest of the world behind.

It's only for the both of you to decide. But as you can see, it's NOT to be taken lightly. You also need to consider the lives of the children that will come of your union. It's an ugly world out there with all things being 'normal' Once you add 'obstacles', then you'd BOTH best be strong enough to take it on! ;)

we are all people, but it is an interracial relationship.

those are both facts.

definetely just go with it... if you two are just the best match for each other, as people, then let others keep there opinions about interracial mixing, and just forge on, doing the best you can, to be the best people you can be.

Just don't worry about the opinions of others. If the two of you are happy with each other then count yourselves as lucky. It is your life... not everybody elses. People are ignorant and that is there problem... don't let it be yours.

They are uncomfortable with ur situation. But, id like to ask u , are U comfortable? Coz in a relationship, it shudnt really matter wat other ppl think(i knw its hard, but its still true). It'll take a while for the world to accept inter racial, religion, community, etc etc relationships.

I see nothing wrong with it at all. You are both of the human race, I only believe in one race.
