You either have your ram overloaded with too much crap running at once or you are infected to the hilt with malware!

Many things can cause this but here is a couple things you can do now to make it run faster

1) download Ad/Aware SE - Spyware program which will clean out any spyware you may have on your computer.

2) Empty out your Cache, Cookies, Temp internet files

3)Download a Program called Registry Cleaner, this will get rid of obsolete registry strings which will boost performance

4) type in run command: MSCONFIG - you can now do a selective start-up which means you can prevent some programs not to automatically when you boot -up. Also each time you start your computer you can always click CTRL+ALT+DELETE -- Go to Processes and select programs to close out that are running which you don't need IE Direct CD.exe, AOL IM or whatever that's not a system essential program.

5) Clear up your desktop if cluttered with short cuts, minimize whats on there, if you do want all those shortcuts, Make a new folder on your desktop and move all your shortcuts into there.

6)Change some of your windows settings - Start/ Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance-Settings/Adjust computer to best performance --> Windows won't be as pretty but will run much faster, freeing up more ram

7) Use Mozilla Firefox as your internet web browser, not Internet explore - It runs much faster and isn't as vulnerble to getting massive spyware

8)Defrag your C:/ drive --- C:/ Right mouseclick/Properties/Tools/Defragment Drive =-->Before doing this close out all running programs, this can take a few hours at times, I'd recommend doing this at least once a week, run it before you head to bed, turn off monitor and let it do its job. This will reorganize all your files which is scattered across your disk drive, allowing for faster access to files and removes obsolete/damaged files.

9) Last buy more system RAM - If you use the computer just for internet and word documents - Not graphical games I would recommend 512MB of Ram to 1 GiG - This will increase performance bigtime.

Follow the order of what I recommended and you should have your computer running much smoother in no time

you may need to clean out your computer. i suggest going to geek sqaud and having them do it. be careful where you go and get it cleaned, make sure you go to a very trustworthy place. you may also have a virus. you should go to a computer specialty place and have them check it out.

hope this helps!!
