naw, as long as u got the speed, are agressive, and show[ a lot of work ethic and effort...for example, Earl Boykins of the denver nuggets, nate robinson of the knicks
boykins is only five feet and five inches.... but with his blazing speed, he can elude defenders twice his size....
robinson is 5'9", and he won the 2006 slam dunk contest, enough said lol...
spud webb- 5'7" won the slam dunk contest as well back in the 90's....
mugsy bogues- 5'5" one speedy mofo.....great distance shooter

Being tall can be an advantage. As they say, you can't teach tall, and a lot of marginal players and plain stiffs have made it into the NBA simply because of their height (Manute Bol, Michael Olowakandi, Shawn Bradley, etc.).
But, while height can give a player an advantage, it will come down to that players skills. Players like Elton Brand (listed at 6'8", but really 6'6" PF) and Ben Wallace (6'9" center) are undersized for their positions, but they both have success based on their high skill levels. Earl Boykins is the shortest player currently in the league, but he works hard at his conditioning and skills and hahs been successful despite being only 5'5".
So, being tall can give a player an advantage, but skill is more important.

Depends on what postions you are trying to play. It wouldn't help much to be a small center or somthing like that but if you wanted to be small forward or point gaurd it really wouldn't be a bad thing. Some of the greatest ballplayers were smaller people and they have had very successful careers so it is not all that important to be tall.

Anybody can play basketball for fun and fitness, so get out there and do it. It helps to be tall if you want to be a professional but there are some notable exceptions. (Spud Webb comes to mind) The only thing limiting your success is your attitude. If you believe you can do it, then you can.

Not at all. Look at all the short basketball players in history. Mugsy Bogues, Earl Boykins, Nate Robinson, etc...The point is, speed matters. If you are short, be unselfish and play as a point guard. There is no specific ideal height in the sport. Just be a good passer and be able to make plays for your teammates. Height is a good advantage, but it is not a necessary.

No...there are really tall players that aren't very good.
Remember Shawn Bradley? Manute Bol? Ghorghe Muresan?
These players are in the NBA becuase of their height. Your skill level and passion for the game are more important than height alone. Isiah Thomas and John Stockton are shorter players, but they are better than the three guys I listed before them. Kevin
Johnson is another guy. Earl Boykins is under six feet tall, but he is very good at his role.

Yes, but not necessary. If you can get over everyone it is easier to shoot and easier to play defense and to get the ball. Look at Wilt Chamerlain or Shaq.
It isn't necessary though, look at players like Mugsy Bogues. As long as you are a great athelete, you can play.
