Of course, but that is part of being a parent or a mature adult. We see where things are going and it causes us stress (by being on our minds). We see the environment, the government, the war, the poor, the unhealty attitudes and it is all correct. But we can help change all this. We need to be the type of person who others look to. We need to initiate the changes so that the next generation has a better place to live.
Be kind, dont use obsenities, pick up litter, help the poor and more. If we all start now it is never too late.

If may be too late for Global Warming though. They say even if we start now the effects wont show for at least 10 years and global warming is happening now. The ice caps are melting. And we still buy SUV's and use aerosols and allow air pollution. When do we stop?

Abosulutely. I'm a sociology major and have been learning all kinds of things that scare me. A generation ago many jobs came with benefits and health insurance was a common one. People would stay at their jobs for life. Now companies want younger people that they can pay less and benefits and pensions are all but dissappearing. People are expected to work longer hours for less pay, and many many people are doing the work of at least two people. The gap between the rich and the poor is the greatest it's ever been and the middle class is all but vanishing. I'm only 23 and I'm worried for my generation, I'll be terrified for my children's generation one day. Apart from work I'm also worried about the state of the world...our dependancy on oil, world relations...

I'm worried about all living generations as I firmly believe we've sincerly messed up the natural and human world.....the generation coming up though seems to be headed in the right direction..just recently in my city a group of high school students raised enough money to intsall a wind power generator for their school...all the protests I see at the legistlature and city hall here are filled with youngsters, and I even hear young adults on the bus discussing our upcoming civic election..(I sure didn't care about City Hall when I was 18!!)

Being 61, and part of the generation that really upset the apple cart in this country in the 60's, I have to say I am worried for all generations....current and future.

My generation survived the Cold War, fought in Viet Nam and all the wars since. Under Clinton, we had military action in Somalia, Haiti, and the Balkans. Now we have Afghanistan and Iraq with N. Korea and Iran threatening.

Never, until the Clinton regime has this country been so divided. Never had a former president blasted a sitting president until Jimmy Carter chose to start that. Previous presidents had more class and a lot more respect for the office than Carter has shown. Never has this country seen the vitriol between the two major parties rise to the current levels of hatred, back-biting, hysterical charges and endless scandal (in both parties).

Until we elect people who love this country more than they love their party, more than they love the pursuit of power and more than they love the TV cameras, I can only see it getting worse.

Until we have a media we can trust to tell the truth WITHOUT SPIN, then we will not have the truth which is vital to our decisions. Until we have newspapers who remain non-political and fulfill their constitutional responsibility to the citizens of this country without bias and without trying to "lead" the electorate to their way of thinking, we will not have an informed electorate...only a brain-washed electorate.

Yes, I worry for my daughter, for my grandchildren and for their children because celebrity has replaced integrity, "group think" has replaced individual opinion and liberalism has replaced freedom.

It is sad that this generation has so much to deal with, but I think every generation has had their own unique problems to deal with. Some people talk about the good old days as if there was ever such a thing. The generations before did not have it better. They had to deal with more racism and homophobia than our current generation. We are also living longer due to medical advances. I just hope this generation learns to appreciate all they have.

Every preceding generation was worried to some extent about the coming generation. This has been going on since ages. Every generation will take care of itself according the circumstance it faces. So better be worried about other things.

Im not sure if its the right way to put it, but i think they are getting more left wing again. Its a cycle between generations i suppose
They will probably do better than Bush today. However, their interest in political matters is a bit more of a concern, and a valid one at that,

yes. Who will bake their bread, fix their pipes, build their houses, mend their clothes? Children don't play outside anymore. If the dish washer breaks...what do you do now?

As time progresses, those things that made people self reliant, thankful, and relevant are being lost. A strong work ethic is much harder to find.

Being the generation of consumerism is only good if you know what it was like to do it yourself. If you've never washed your clothes by hand, or make bread from scratch, or mended your own socks, made mud-pies after the rain - how do you teach your children after you?

Not at all. I'm sure that they will do a much better job than the current generation. I am so pleased at how well balanced the younger generation seems to be.
