Today, I'm searching about a man named Robert Treat Paine who signed the Declartion of Independence.
I'm curious, is it true that Robert Paine is related to Thomas Paine, the writer of "Common Sense"?

Please, if you have any sites that tell if it's true or not, or you know it straight out of your head. Thank you. I don't want any answers like "I dunno, you search it up."

Robert Treat Paine is an ancestor of and namesake of contemporary actor Treat Williams through his mother's line.

Paine is also an ancestor of the young Eric Joseph Fernandez of Weston Massachusetts. Eric is a direct descendant of Paine through his Mother's side of the family. Continuing along this lineage Eric is also a direct descendant of Thomas Paine, the author of Common Sense, and other important historical figures such as Governor Bradford of the Mass-Bay Colony. Eric enjoys a rich sense of history and takes great pride in his families ancestry. Eric was reached for comment and said, "For me history is all around. In our (family) libraries we have the treasury records of Benjamin Franklin detailing the United States debt to France, and in the attic we have countless personal correspondents between General Washington and Robert Treat Paine. I have held his original copy of the Declaration of Independence in our family house and been taken back to the hallowed year of 1776"

Thomas Paine (January 29, 1737 – June 8, 1809)
Paine was born on 29 January 1737, to impoverished parents: Joseph Paine, a Quaker, and Frances Cocke Paine, an Anglican, in Thetford, Norfolk, eastern England.

So to summarize, I have found no relation between the two Paines other than this chap Eric Joseph Fernandez who claims to be an ancestor of both.
