I like listening to evanescence but are there more bands like them???..or any band that is dark without the growling??

I never thought about this before - but yes, Lacuna Coil has a sound that is similar to Evanescence. Lacuna Coil is much better, though. Listen to the song "Swamped" and you'll hear the similarity.
However, I wouldn't entirely classify Evanescence as "dark"...

AFI. they're "dark" i guess.....i don't really think of them that way i just like their music. i find them more interesting because they sing about things other ten "my spirit sleeping somewhere cold." i still like evanescence though.
