I recently was in Germany and it's obvious that the entire German Press hates America. They offer no troop help in Iraq and feel that America is a bigger terrorist that Iran. Isn't time Americans stop buying German cars and supporting a nation that has no probblem working against our interests.

True, there are no German troops in this mess called Iraq George W. got the world into.
BUT the biggest contingent of soldiers in the ISAF-forces in Afghanistan comes from Germany. German navy is patrolling the red sea and around the horn of Africa as a part of the US led operation "Enduring Freedom". Germany is the only country left that still operates Usbek supporting bases for the western troops in Afghanistan.
Germany lost soldiers in Afghanistan in a fight that Germany didn't start but took part in because it supported its American ally, which seems to be very forgetful about its friends, if I look at your question.

So before you start blaming one of the closest allies of the US, because it didn't join this crazy disaster Iraq turned out to be, please inform yourself!!!!!
Since WW2 Germany has always been a friend of the US and still is. But that doesn't mean that the Germans obey without thinking when George W. whistles and orders everyone into th Iraqi quagmire.
And about the press it seems to me not only the German press has a dislike for the current administration (NOT America) but the US press isn't very friendly to W. as well.

Back to the cars: there are Mercedes and BMW plants in the US and Ford and GM plants in Germany. Chrysler and Mercedes are the same company so in both cars will be probably parts from both countries, so don't be so uninformed as well in your boycott or you end up boycotting US made cars.

Well, "most" people don't realize this, but the original VW was made in the USA! I own a 1971 VW and I love that car. Just because we sold the rights to the Germans doesn't mean it's German made. Mexico also made them, but they "are" an American made car. I don't feel the Germans owe me anything, car or otherwise. Should sh-t hit the fan, "any" country who does not support the USA will find out why they "should" have. And that's all I have to say about that.

No one likes America or Germany for that matter but they at least make good cars the only thing the US makes that is a success internationaly is the cheroke jeep and humvees are great too but you have to be rich and not care about poverty and the environment and basically nothing else exceot yourself and guess what? The same goes for BMW and Mercedes...

An excellent question my friend. A car, after a house, is the second biggest investment a person makes. Of the capital expense, a huge amount goes in to the pocket of the manufacturer, and if the car is made in Germany, of course all of the wages earned in building it will stay in that country.

The wage earners, of course, pay taxes into their own economy. Therefore, if you buy a foreign car you are sending an awful lot of your hard earned cash into another country's economy. How crazy is that?

Of course they build good cars - but so does America, and indeed Britain. (Although our own car industry ceases to exist except in small marques, we make a huge amount of cars for multi-nationals in the UK.)

Those who buy German cars fail to realise the significance of their doing so in large numbers, but the damage to our economy, and to yours, is inestimable.

Finally, someone has called Germany a "peaceful" nation. I presume he or she hasn't seen the news. What they did between 1914-1918 and 1939-45 is beyond the imagination of any other Western country. And don't tell me they have all gone - there is in fact a Neo Fascist rally in Germany in the news today.

We have a BMW plant and a Mercedes plant right here in the US. The press corp can go get bent, their press is obviously as useless as ours. The German people do not hate us.

Anytime the GM, Chrysler, and Ford feel like putting a brand new vehicle curb-side for $9,999.99 that's worth a tinker's damn, has a 5-year warranty, no frills, somewhat truck-shaped, and overdrive(preferably with a 1/2 ton cargo capacity, hint hint), I'll be happy to go and give them my business, especially if there's no-bullshit financing with it, say $350 a month at, hmm, 10% interest, I'd go for that...but, as long as they're trying to finance the country of Rhodesia or something off the sale of each individual vehicle, well, there goes their competitive edge...and that's approximately why Toyota kicks their collective *** on a DAILY basis. Konichi-wa! LOLOL

Wow. I didn't know that the Germans viewed us as a "terrorist" threat. Wait till an Iranian blows himself up in front of a German embassy, then the Germans will know who the real threat is.

About the cars, the Germans make good cars.

That's not true. I have many, many German friends who have either joined up armies that ARE going to fight, or they are in full support of America and working for companies that buy things from our country. Not every German hates us.

Why the hell should they help? The states has created a disaster with this war and its bad enough that the Canadian soliders haven't been pulled out yet, considering its not our war either...and if someone wants to buy a German car....why the hell should you care?...its just a car.

I guess people think driving a German car makes them look elite. The only time I have had a foreign car is when it was given to me. I don't believe that most Americans understand just how hated we are by other countries. A friend of mine went to Paris and said it is really true the French hate us. I think that is the price you pay when you are the only superpower left. They see us as trying to manipulate and run everything and interfering with their countries. But the thing that gets me is they never turn down our funds!!!
