Since I hit my 40's I find myself thinking more and more about that " Day" and I find myself scared to death. Knowing my mother past away at a early age in life of cancer I have this fear now. I wish I didn't think about it so much. I know we all have to go sooner or later but really I rather not think about it at all. Any suggestions how to fix this fear?

Excellent question, and I must say you have a great deal of insight, and have an above level of intelligence. This same question has plagued me, since hitting my 40's. It's my believe we the (human race), for the most part all fear DEATH. It's an unknown, we don't know for sure, regardless of our religious believes, what actually is in store for each of use at our death. I guess the Good Lord wanted us to feel this way to some extend, so that we would treasure life, the beauty or this world, and not take life for granted. I mean lets face it, most of us will be anything to prevent death, and prolong life. Even when diagnosed with a terminal illness, we fight so very hard to stay alive. As for as fixing this fear, well I'm not God, and I believe it would take being involved with a higher power to reach any sort of serenity, or tranquility where death is concerned. As for me, I try to put death in perspective. First I try and trust in the Good Lord, or Higher Power, Treasure each moment of life, even if it's cooking a meal, cleaning house, etc. Live by the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Sweetheart, the bottom line is no one gets out of this world alive, and I to wish this was not the reality of things. Having said this, the only advice I can offer, is try and search your heart and soul and find a comfortable place, where you can except death, but live each day to it's fullest. Thank you for the opportunity to address such a profound question.

The real question is what are you afraid of? Are you afraid of the pain, or what you will leave behind? Or what lies beyond? Death is a large thing to fear, and possibly preparing for the individual factors of it will help you cope. Life insurance for your loved ones, a will and recording of your final wishes (life support, etc), and reaffirming any religious beliefs might help you confront this. In a sense, being prepared may be a good way to help you deal with this.

Everyone to some extent scared of death and no one wish to die. But thinking of early death and then scaring of it may be a kind of depression. You should try to do the thinks what you like most. Keep involved in your work. Chat with your colleagues and friend. Consulting to a psychiatrist may be helpful.

I have this fear too.I am especially scared because I have two small children.I am constanly scared something will happen to me and there will be no one to take care of them. What I tell myself,if I am meant to go than it is my time.If you stress over when you are going to die you will not enjoy the days you do have.I would say to you, enjoy every day to the fullest.Dont worry so much about when you will go.Just enjoy your time here.

Basically take one day at a time. Every one dies... noone gets out of life alive. So... knowing this, make sure your family is preparied financially, make sure they know what to do with your body and move on! Dont fear death... but do enjoy life while you still can.

Go to church, or find some faith in life after death, this is what has made religion so popular, and who's to say it's wrong? I'd sure like to be so happy as the faithful.

Its not uncommon to be afraid of death. I understand you being afraid. I used to be and still am if I am faced with something.like being sick. Try different activities to take it off your mind off it. Everyone dies!! If you believe in God then you will live eternally and will be able to see your mom and won't have to worry about sickness and disease. Try to keep yourself healthy why you are still on this earth. Eating and exercise can help extend your life. Try not to stress that can just make it worse. I hope this helps!!
