I have worked at home as an MT for 9 years. I too did not go to school for it, started doing it when I was a medical assistant at a doctor's office, and when I got the hang of it, a major transcription company hired me and I've been with them ever since. Like the person above said, you can make a great living doing it. I make about $500-600 a week. I make more at times, if I work more. Most companies pay at a per line level so the more you type, the more you make. Some people might not think $500-600 a week is a lot, but there are no expenses, such as mileage to work, daycare expenses, if you work at home.

www.MTDaily.com is a great site that lists jobs available with the requirements of each. Most companies will supply you with the equipment you need. This site is legitimate and the listings are of real companies, not scams.

Good Luck!

I have been working as a medical transcriptionist for 18 years out of my home. It has put four children through college, paid for 2 weddings, taken care of my household expenses since I started, has sent me on trips, seminars, etc. YES, if you get the right docs and/or clinics, it is very successful. I DID NOT go to school for it, just kind of fell in to it through working at a hospital. IF YOU ARE GOOD, the docs will seek you out. I was the sole contributor to the household so worked many hours, but you can work as many or as few hours as you want to. Good luck
