Political Correctness is INSIDIOUS!! IT IS OF THE DEVIL!!
It is nothing more than a cleverly crafted plan to use peer pressure and the courts to MANIPULATE public opinion. The best speech on political correctness is by Charlteton Heston at Harvard Law School in 1999.
To be correct politically, it is imperative that individuals adhere and present their opinions free of fear of societal retribution. The foundation of Politcal Correctness is societal retribution. Political Correctness is not politically correct!

Political Correctness is more political and less correct. Just because all humans are created equal does not mean that they all remain equal.
There is a big difference between bigotry and differentiation. Why should it be my fault if someone is emotionally challenged and will get their feelings hurt no matter what I say?
The basic concept of PCness may have been good or even righteous, but over the years it has gotten completely out of hand. I believe in being honest and open. To bend the truth to avoid hurt feelings is the same as telling a lie.
Lenny Bruce was right. The offense is in the mind of the perceiver. Some skins are just too thin for routine social interaction.

Simply put, liberals know what is best for all of us. And anything the white man came up with, especially America, is bad. Political correctness is an attempt for academia to socially engineer "equality" by labelling everything. Remember, words hurt. And because they were picked on in school for not being jocks, they get their revenge by creating such inane things as "hate speech" and behavior codes resembling Nazism. It has trickled down even into ordinary vernacular. You can't say "secretary"; it is "administrative assistant". You see where this is going. Because, remember, the gals (oops!) were hurt also. So Brown University created "womyn" and you can't say "aviatrix" (which is a smashing word).
God help us all. This is why this country is going to the dogs. The Sixties really screwed everything up. You were all cool and then you did coke in the Seventies and look now. Alls we ended up with are lawyers and jackass professors.

Political correctness should not be confused with courtesy and respect. Too many people blame 'political correctness' for not allowing them to publicly express hateful and racist views. Avoiding words like ni**er (sorry, Yahoo censorship!) and Paki is nothing to do with PC, it's simple good manners.
Racists invent stories about nursery schools singing 'Baa Baa Blue Sheep' and teachers not being allowed to talk about blackboards to undermine and ridicule multiculturism.
You can express opinions. You can say them out loud, but courtesy dictates that they are based on fact, not prejudice and hatred. What you can't do is unfairly discriminate against people on spurious grounds like race, gender, physical appearance etc. That's not PC, that's common sense.
If you feel that you have a fundamental human right to deliberately cause offence, then I think you have misunderstood the concept of human rights. Perhaps a chat with someone living in fear of violence, false imprisonment and torture could help you out.

Political correctness is like most things, fashions, gadgets, music only good for a certain amount of time and by the time it is implemented (or things catch on) it is already out of date and so therefore no longer PC (or trendy). Imagine people telling us we HAD to wear particular clothing, or listen only to particular music, the more PC we try to be the less we actually are!

the guy with the long answer: if white men weren't so greedy, you wouldn't have so many of today's problems....
political correctness can work many ways...... then it was politically correct to discriminate against blacks in this country..
remember poll tax , grandfather clause, & blackface? all that stuff
happened during that glorious time you like to recall.....
this country was evil before it started... so don't blame it on the 70s
liberals and conservatives are both full of it

I think the whole idea of PC is crap. It's nothing but a load of bloody do-gooders poking their unwanted noses into the affairs of other people. Why did we EVER let them get away with banning things like blackboards or manhole covers? How ridiculous can you get!!! The whole thing really pisses me off.
