absolutely! i applaud your even thinking about doing it!
i camp out up here in Colorado every winter the first week of january. historically the coldest week of the year. and im not talking pop-up campers. im talking backpacking into the woods. or finding a cave that has no evidence of big game. (small bones everywhere)
yes it can be done, and you should totally go for it. as long as the wind is off you, you only need to worry about a warm enough bag, i have a north face darkstar and it does pretty well. remember to stay hydrated!!! it will actually help you stay warmer and fight off hypothermia. be sure to eat plenty of high energy and high calorie food. be very careful about your alcohol intake (a staple when summer camping). it will inhibit you from feeling cold. watch your sugar intake too, i have no scientific data, but you need to keep your blood sugar up to the proper level.
down insulation will be your best friend.

good luck! enjoy the no- one- around- for- miles- feeling!!!!!

nothing beats camping in a tent. camper not me I would rather stay home I love to feel the outdoors and fresh air on my face and cook on a campfire. A camper is the lazy way to me.

i camped out once at the grand canyon at woke up to 15 degrees, bumpin uglies helped but then i was sweaty and colder, we had 4 blankets and plenty of clothing. but still froze my wanker off. I ended up gettin into the pt cruiser i had rented and turned the heat on and passed out for about 4 hours.
