No dolphins do not drink water .. they get all the fluid they require from the food they eat, so if they don't eat they will generally die from dehydration before they die of starvation.. If you spray a hose of fresh water at a dolphin in captivity they will drink it, but they will then not eat for a few days after since they are incapable of distinguishing between hunger and thirst

They don't drink, they get all the liquid they need from the fish they eat.
Dolphins in captivity will 'drink' if sprayed with a hose, but are likely not to eat for a couple of days.

I don't know what they drink but I wish I could have some of what they are on , with all that acrobatic diving around in the sea that they do. I love dolphins, they rock.

like most living things, dolphins are made mostly of water. however, if they would drink salt water, they would need even more water to get rid of the salt. so they get their water from fish and squid they eat. they also get water from burning fat during the metabolism process.

fresh water yes...... but can't distinguish it from food therefore wont eat after, at sea they get all the water they need from the food they eat.
Not sure about fesh water dolphins though

haha i got this off IQ last nite, the answer is no..... the get their water sauce from their food and if by any chance they do happen to drink water they will not eat... they do not know the difference between thirst and hunger... yeah i knew that program would come in handy one day....
