okay, my doctor gave me a sheet about this, hold on let me find it.... Got it!
for sore throats: Warm salt water gargles: Add 1/4 teaspoon salt to 1/4 cup warm water and gargle with it.

coughs: honey and lemon juice; mix one tablespoon of honey with the juice of 1/2 lemon. sip a teaspoon every hour and after a coughing spell.

cold remedies:
1. go to bed and rest as much as possible
2. avoid milk and cheese, which are mucus producing
3. do not take asprin. Tylenol may be taken if needed
4. drink plenty of fluids especially water, fruit juices and herbal teas
5. take 250 mg vitamin C every 4 hours for a maximum of 2000 mg per day. (large doses of vitamin C taken in the first trimester have been associated with increased incidence of miscarriage)

herbal teas you can make

garlic and lemon tea: mince one clove of fresh garlic. Add the juice of 1/4 small lemon. Put one teaspoon of mint or peppermint in the cup and pour in boiling water, stir and drink

hot cider vinegar and honey tea: place 2 tablespoons each cider vinegar and honey in a cup and cover with boiling water. stir and drink

sage, garlic and honey tea: pour 6 cups boiling water over 2 heaping tablespoons of sage leaves, 2 finely chopped cloves of garlic, juice of 1/2 lemon with pulp, and honey to taste. steep for 5 minutes

Gargle with Listerine or salt water, drink antibiotic teas. you can change the teas if you worry about herbs being medicines so you don't get too much of any one. Thyme is a great one as is marjoram, oregano, and chamomile is also good. Don't drink anything cold, some people get sore throats from cold drinks in a similar way to icecream headaches. You can also drink a little warm milk and honey, I'm basing this on the fact that you shouldn'tdrink milk before singing since it coats your throat. Coating your throat would ease the pain, but if your problem is bacteria based it would probably make it easier for them to multiply too. Maybe drink tea first then warm milk. If you have a sore throat due to post nasal drip from allergies, you can eat apples which have a natural antihistamine and willhelp dry you up, but if it's bacteria based don't eat apples because you would want to flush out the bacteria not make it dry and plug up inside.
If you later get congested, you can boil a pear, add a bit of honey and drink it. I'm not sure if it's a decongestant or expectorant, but it does help. I hope you feel better soon. I've had two boys and avoided medication.

An age old secret passed down from centuries old. Gargle with warm salt water. Put a table spoon of regular table salt into a glass and fill with warm water and gargle. Repeat this every hour or two as needed. Also, warm Sassafras tea is good for the throat.
