hey, thanks for picking me as best answer on your other question. If you wanna talk more you can email me at sasabrim@yahoo.com I check it like 5 times a day lol.

as for your turnout, you could try the frog sit. You lay on your stomach, bend your knees so your feet are in the air and then separate your knees as far out as they go. The bottoms of your feet should still be touching and try to press your heels to the ground. the longer you hold the position, the farther down your feet will go.
The other frog sit is a little harder for most people if done correctly. go on your hands and knees. Then sink down so your elbows are holding you up instead of your hands, separate your knees. and bring your feet out so both of your knees are at 90 degree angles. Make sure your hips are line up with your knees, and try to press yourself to the floor.
I hope my descriptions weren't too confusing. Good luck!

Here is a simple exercises that will help: My Ballet teacher used to have us lay on the floor on our stomachs with out feet turned out... starting with feet together while keeping your hip bones touching the floor. Then slowly moving your feet apart. Do this exercises while laying on your stomach reading a book or watching TV.. after a while you will find you can move your legs farther apart but keep in mind to always keep your front hip bones touching the floor. Also keep watch that your knees are in line with toes...
Always make sure you are not forcing your toes out past your knees and hips or you will have knee problems as you get older.
I have also always been told by my teacher and different physicians that once your body reaches a certain age of maturity your bones are pretty set and it is harder to get a good turn out which is why children started in Ballet very early on tend to have that nice turn out. And yes Plies do help :-)

no it should not effect the way you awlk. if it does ask you teacher what you are doing wrong.

but you work on your turn out, start with you R leg.
raise it in the air striaght infront of you so the top of your foot is facing the ceiling.
turn your hip so the top of your foot is now facing right towards the wall.
hold each posistion for about 5 seconds.
repeate on left leg

you can also do this out to the side and to the back if you wish

**** please remeber before engagin in any activity STRETCH**** i cannot stress that enough, it seems like a simple exersize, but i know girls who have torn and pulled muscles trying to work on thier turnouts

basically i know this will sound really wrong to anyone who doesnt take ballet but what you have to do is suck your stomach in but try not to stick your ribs out and then squeeze your butt but dont push through(dont push your hips forward)
if you keep taking ballet for a long time and you actually use your turn out it will affect the way you walk but its not noticeable to you, only to ppl who look at your feet and make weerd comments
