need more info.....is it a shed with a "A" roof or is it a "shed" roof? shingles r laid on a 5" bond, u pop lines every 5" up the roof starting from the bottom.....when ready to start u turn the first shingle upside down and backwards and let it stick past the fascia 3/4 inch( can be smaller) then the first shingle starts from the rake( the side of the roof) and measure over 30" and 36" less the amount of the over hang past the fascia.......

ex: if u want a 3/4 over hang- pop a line around the roof, measuring from the edge of the fascia, at 11 1/4 " ( this is less the 3/4) and when u install the starter shingle it is 12" so it will stick over 3/4 from the fascia!!

install all ur starters and then like stated above pop ur lines every 5".......then up the rake( sides) hook ur tape over the starter shingle and measure 30" and 36"...do this at the bottom of the roof rake and the top( ridge) pop those 2 lines and then 1 shingle to the 30 " line and the next one up to the 36" line......this will off set the bonds and keep ur shingles straight....

i know this is complicated, but the back of the shingle shows the same pic on it.......

Go down to Lowe's or Home Depot and pick up a "How to do it" booklet. They usually have them for free. If not, it might behoove you to buy one. Good luck. Pops
