Nothing. The actual affair is the relief from the frustration they were feeling and thinking about prior to the affair.
People have affairs on their significant others for numerous reasons. A few for personal issues (ie: self esteem, adventure, or personal need- lust...) but the majority are due to relationship issues (ie: lack of attention, neglect, revenge, or defense...).

The affair is to replace something that is missing from their current relationship. That's what they are focused on.

If a guy is seeing a woman outside of his marriage, it's usually because the woman is giving him something he's not getting from his wife. It is typically sexual, but it could also be emotional needs as well.

they have accomplished thier challenge...now to see how long they can do it without getting caught! or until the other gal starts getting too serious , they have to cut it off. now that leaves a chice for them to make. and now they are faced with dilemia an excitment back into thier life.

They are thinking of revenge on their wives. They probably don't get enough affection or attention from their wives, that's when men start searching for a rendevous with other women.
