i am trying to learn visual C++ ,i didn't find platform to pratice in my pc as book says to find it in programmes and i went there but it's nothing in there?l i am totally new to it.so plz let me know how to start pratising? do i need to download any software or it is already in my computer when i download xp? thanks

You cannot legally download Windows XP.

Visual C++ is a product that you need to buy. You can download Visual Studio Express free from Microsoft.

By Visual Studio 2005 cd, here u'll find visual c++, u have to use it. Or download visual c++ 2005 Express edition from microsoft.com

Goto microsoft.com and search for Visual C++ for downloading the compiler and IDE.

the best way to start practicing is to start programming,
look up a tutorial or get a book that explains it in detail, also if you can find someone that already knows how to programm in C++ have them help you, trust me you'll need it.
