Your parents have life experience and the advantage of having encountered different personalities during the course of their lives. They also love you very much and want the best for you. I am 62, raised two daughters, who are now 41 and 39. Of course, while they were teenagers and in their early twenties, they thought I didn't understand, wasn't in touch with the times, and/or was just plain stupid. Now they both ask for my advice and really value it. I always gave my advice, but they made their own decisions and their own mistakes. Having seen the trouble they could have avoided if they had listened to Mom in the first place, they now value my opinion. Geez, thought the day would never come!

First of all no parent is always right or do they know everything. I am a parent of grown children and I'm still learning. Parents generally want to protect their children from all harm and some will go overboard and coddle their children to the point where the child has no concept of reality. Life is to be lived and learned and no matter how long you live you will never know everything.

Being a parent, I know that parents don't know everything, they are not always right, and they are human beings who are continually learning.
That said, parents have more experience at life in general, than their children. Sometimes parents want to spare their child of a lesson the parent has learned the hard way. This is just an expression of their love for you.
Parents are continually learning lessons, just as their children are learning lessons. Think of mistakes as lessons.

Have you seen the film the Wizard of Oz? Remember the all powerful wizard who seems so powerful and all-knowing? And do you remember when the dog pulls back the curtain to show everyone that the wizard is really only a humble human being who makes mistakes and has faults? Well that's like it is with your parents. They don't know everything, although they may seem like they do. In reality they're just human like you and they make mistakes. They will try to guide you but they are just as capable of screwing up as the next person. So follow your own heart, obviously you should listen to your parents views, but remember that they make mistakes same as you.

Parents are people just like kids....they make mistakes, they can be right and wrong....the advantage parents have over kids is EXPERIENCE which comes with life and being older and actually going through things first hand. Sure parents can be wrong (they are only human ya know?) BUT for the most part I think parents try to PREVENT their kids from making mistakes that are either painful or something that they themselves have experienced for themselves.

Yes, sometimes parents can be wrong. It's not to often because the things that our kids are going through we have been through it already. Times change, but the game is still the same. And your dad can tell you about a boy because he played the same game. It's a man thang. Listen to your parents they are not gonna tell you anything wrong to hurt you. they will try to protect you if anything. And if they are wrong who's gonna be there to help clean up the mess. Parents so give them a chance it can't hurt. God Bless!

Parents have been there and done that, most of the time they are right about thing, because they learn first hand,so they can tell you, most of the things they tell you,you will see that they are right, very few times a good parent has misjudged.Oh I for got to tell you they have eyes in the back of their head and can see and you will to when you become a parent.

They are always right. Rule no.1 'parents are always right'
Rule no.2 'if parents are wrong then refer to Rule no.1'
I think you know the answer to your own question, but show respect and you'll be respected, parents are only human and infuriating at times for sure.

Nobody knows everything. They have been through a lot more than you so I would definately listen to them for they are wise. No, they aren't always right either. Parent's just want you to think that so you don't question them.
