I hope you're saying that the speedometer is not showing the speed, not that the car is not moving becuase the needle is stuck. I'd think the needle could get stuck for a number of reasons, from the contact points on the drivetrain to anywhere leading up to the dash. It'd probably be good to have a look at the line to see if it is snagged anywhere, and if it isn't then take it to a local garage and ask them how much they'd charge to fix it. They'll figure out the problem
