Lots of places! Try speedwalking.
In September I walked - Westminster Abbey to Houses of Parliament to Cenataph (looked at the London Eye over the river), to Downing Street to Horseguards Parade through the park to Buckingham Palace and back to Birdcage walk in 40 minutes!! (I only had a short lunch break).

Tower of London (rich history)
Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guards
Westminster Abbey (My favorite dead English people sleep there)
British Library where Mahatma Gandhi and Karl Marx studied
Hyde Park Speaker's Corner where you see all the craziness
Big Ben and Parliament to see the parliament in debate
My husband will go with me. He's never been out of the US.
