all right...i'm embarassed about this a little bit 'cause experienced people keep telling me to get real & not live in a fantasy.

i'd love to write a bestseller in a couple of years' time. i've given this a lot of thought and maybe, just maybe I could do it. the problem is, when I hear people saying these things I get completely discouraged about anything in life. this bestseller would save me in a way - it would leave me with a sense of great accomplishment and change me for the better. i've exp. a lot of hurt and this is the only thing I feel passionate about.

It is never foolish to work hard at something about which you feel passionate.

The issue is you should be writing now. A Bestseller does not come out of thin air. If you have never published before, you also need to learn about the process of getting published: what editors are looking for, how to submit for final project, do you need a literary agent and other things. These all take time.

If you just plan on waiting for 2 years and then banging out a Bestseller in six months and handing it or mailing it to someone and that's it, then get real and start to learn the business.

Writing is a business. Like all other businesses, experience counts. While you learn the business, write, write and write some more. Put you heart into it.

If you have not already done so, go to your local library and ask a librarian about books for getting started in the writing business and how to publish. Read these carefully.

The first step is writing the book. Since you want it to be a best seller, you might take a look at what's actually selling. Study the NY Times Bestseller list. If you already have your plot and feel strongly about it, write it. Get it done. 99% of beginning writers never finish that first book. PROVE THEM WRONG by finishing it.

Writing that first book will require dedication and discipline. Do not worry about it being perfect in the first draft. It won't be. Just get it written all the way to the end.

If you need help, try the Fiction Writing Series from Writer's Digest Books. The books I found most helpful in my career was CHARACTERS & VIEWPOINT by Orson Scott Card and DIALOGUE by Lewis Turco. Others are equally helpful. If you want to write a bestseller, you should read books on writing so you can write well.

You can also join writing groups on line, but be careful. Too many are just chat groups. The one you want is one that focuses on writing and asks questions like "How much did you write this week?"

If you are dedicated, you CAN write a bestseller. It will take more than two years, but it can be done.

why do you want to write a best seller? I mean if u decide and write just for becoming a bestselling author, there are higher chances that it will not turn into a best seller. The reason? Because then u will be writing what u think people will like and not what really touches ur heart. You will be unable to write 'your mind'. Your work will loose its authenticity, originality and vibrancy. And even if it becomes a bestseller there will always be people who will never like it. And sicne u r disturbed by people's opinion about your work even with a bestseller u will always have a reason to be unhappy.
And all great works and deeds come about only when one has the guts to face the public ridicule and yet stand by his/her convictions.
So hell with what others say. And hell with the bestseller thing. If your book becomes one its a welcome thing. But that hardly matters. For one writes because the joy of creating something new and original is a joy par excellence. Nobody can snatch it from you.

If you want to write, write. Even if it's some kind of sappy, self-pitying drivel, write anyway. As time goes on, you'll be able to write even that sort of thing in a poetical, moving manner. Eventually, you'll come up with an idea that just begs to be written, and it'll be good enough to be published.

Write some, every day. Read some, every day. You don't have to make a living at it, just yet. Do something else, to pay the bills, and then come home and write.

Remember the story of J.K. Rowling, the author of the "Harry Potter" books. Use her as an example, if you like; her success proves that success is possible.

Just write.

Hey, I am not good in english. i am not good in expressing in good words, I mean my vocabulary is poor.I don't know anything about
writing.
And I am going to write a book, I am sure, I am going to write.
And not in years plan. I am going to write in two months time.
I will write my way.
When its done, I will ask the help of people to make it more
profesional.
There are always people, who wants to help.
We must try, all what comes in our head. there is a reason for it.
We can't drop ideas, because we don't know.
We must learn. We learn by both, by making and by breaking.
You just bring idea out, than step by step ask help from others.
And All I tell you go for it.Go for it with all your power, I am with you.
Any time write me a mail. If you feel low.
So don't worry about people, make a decision, that you are going to write a bestseller soon.
And you can do it, you have all the possiblites and potential.
If you think you can, you can.

good luck

Many authors in history do not get recognized for thier work until years after thier death. Many popular poets were actually poor people trying to fit in with a greedy crowd that would not give up a dime to help them with thier work. My opinion: just let your writting be a hobby if no one gives you credit. Do it for your own personal enjoyment, turn it into your own work of art. Share it with people you care about and turn your work into a hierloom. Where it goes from there, who knows.

Don't listen to them (period). I was also discouraged from following dreams by those who said 'It'll never work'. How the hell do they know that. Just do it and don't share with anyone that discourages you.

Stick to writing, publishing sites, and chat with other writers and those who encourage. Don't give up!

Contact me. I'll read your manuscript and encourage you.
