At first response I would immediately say that the original is the best and scariest of the two. However, I went to see the remake on 6/6/06 and that was probably the best night to see it. The theater was packed, no empty seats. The movie fell flat in sections, but it was the audience that brought it through. It was their reactions that made the remake better than it was on it's own.
Would I see the remake again? No, because that night can't be recreated.
But it was good that night.
Hope that helps.

I really liked the new one. It was more a psychological thriller than a horror movie.
I'm thoroughly ashamed to say that I haven't seen the original. I usually pride myself on refusing to see a remake until I've watched the original (b/c the original is usually better), but I was at a friends house and they had just bought the remake.

Yes.To me,the remake was not that bad!Liev Scheiber made a very effective Robert Thorn,Julia Stiles was excellent as Kathreine. But the best performance in the film was David Thewlis as the photographer Jennings. However, special effects did not better the original and the decapitation scene memorable in the original was not bettered.Even, though it was more bloodier done.

The original is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. Have not seen the remake.

I saw the original one, which scared me, but not the remake. Which version are you talking about?

there was too much of the 'Final Destination' elements in it. It was like it was trying to copy off a bunch of other horror movies at once...
